BULL'S EYE ANYONE ?

A cadet's first-time experience of handling an air pistol.

"It's supposed to be hard. If it was not hard, everyone would do it. The hard...is what makes it great" - A League of their Own

The air pistol enrichment course is one of the first few activities that I have taken part in after I joined NPCC. It was very fun and exciting! Although it looked really simple, there were some obstacles. No one really can be lucky every single try and get a shot on their targets. It does take a lot of patience and determination to get a shot. We had the opportunity to participate in four different rounds. During the first round, I was really bad!.I even forgot to fill the pistol with pellets! I felt quite demoralised because it was the simplest round and I did not manage to get a lot of points. Luckily, the instructor was very patient and guided me through the process. Most importantly, he kept encouraging me. I was determined to do better in the next round. I aimed well and was almost close to shooting a bull's eye; I was just an inch away! To me, that was one of the highlights of the programme. I was really proud of that single shot. It kept me going and I did quite well for the rest of the rounds.

I learnt that it is not just about pulling the trigger. It is also about patience, being meticulous and believing in myself! This was indeed a new experience for me and I believe it will stay in my memory throughout my NPCC journey as a reminder to never give and to always keep trying my best no matter what setbacks I might face.
