My very first camp, in Secondary School.
Our three days two nights unit camp was held
from 16 to 18 March 2016.
There were two things that I enjoyed during
this camp. They are the campfire night and the preparation leading to campfire.
My team and I prepared a dance and song item for our campfire night. We danced
to 'sorry' by Justin Beiber and it was great fun. We struggled with
choreographing our dance and singing the correct lyrics to the song. During the
performance, I was very nervous and scared of having perform in front of the
whole unit and our teacher officers. Nevertheless, though not perfect, we put
up a good performance and enjoyed ourselves.
The first night away from my bed, was scary. I
was not able to adapt to the new sleeping environment. I could not sleep well
as my camp buddy woke me up three times in a row, in the middle of the night,
to visit the washroom. However, this was not an issue the next night as all of
us sleep soundly after a long and tiring
day.
On the second day, I remembered our squad being
reprimanded during our drills sessions as we had forgotten the commands and
what we supposed to do during each command. However, we learnt from this and
tried to get our drills right. I know that our officers.? Scold us because they
want us to learn from our mistakes. On that day, I also learned how to speak at
the right time. As I am rather talkative, my teacher officer threw me a
challenge to keep quiet, nothing said for five minutes. I failed the first time
but succeeded for the next round. I learned the importance of speaking at the
right time,
On the last day of the camp, we were all
exhausted! Even then, I cannot wait for the next NPCC camp.
